Jaap began with a simple instinct. Follow the goosebumps. Pick up the camera, pay attention, trust the feeling. That mindset has driven his work ever since.

Jaap Perenboom is a Dutch cinematographer and filmmaker. Since 2019, Jaap and his wife Imke have blended work and travel, delivering commercial film and photography projects for clients across the globe, while running a marketing agency. Their adventure has taken them across five continents and counting.

In 2024, Jaap made his debut short wildlife documentary Journey of Transformation. The film went on to win international awards. In 2025, he was part of the cinematography team on a blue-chip wildlife series for a major international broadcaster.

The work is a partnership. Since 2019, Imke has been the second pair of eyes on every project. Assistant director and story consultant on Journey of Transformation, travel partner across five continents, the person who tells Jaap when an idea is ready and when it isn't.

Field locations

Rainforests in Costa Rica. Salt flats in Bolivia. High passes in Kyrgyzstan. Wherever the goosebumps take us, that is where the work happens.
